Giuseppina Pastore (1940-2000) translated from La Tinaia's website: Born in 1940 in Florence, to a family of middle class. As a baccalaureate in classical studies for four years, she attended the university, she enrolled first in the faculty of mathematics and physics, then to that of political science. She started to show the first mental disorders which interrupted her studies. In 1983 she discovers La Tinaia, and attends occasionally until 1989, when the artistic activity becomes a daily commitment and regular. Using predominantly colored pens on paper, also experiences with painting on cloth with acrylic, she achieves interesting results. Equipped with great intelligence and sensitivity, Giuseppina designs, paints and writes. Her drawings are complex compositions in which, figures and writing are intertwined: the words becomes design and vice versa. Her artworks' topics are among the more varied: space, biographical, religion, politics, love, peace and war. |
