Rebecca Kinkead Rebecca Kinkead is a composer of personal recall and borrowed memories, transmitting ambiguous dreamy figures intended to encourage the viewer, to remember and apply their own history to each piece. These calm moments of shared experiences allow us to feel united through feelings of anticipation, innocence, triumph, and tenderness. Kinkead uses a layering and tearing-down process using paint and wax allowing the composition to emerge slowly, as the memories wash over the audience. Figures ripen into being as if nurtured by a primal stew of color and texture. The paintings possess a multi-dimensional quality that reflects the artist’s original training as a ceramicist. She continues to be inspired by her rural Vermont surroundings, where she lives with her husband and their four dogs. The work of Rebecca Kinkead is part of many private and corporate collections including that of Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King.
